Employers - What is Practicum

What is Practicum?

Students are required to complete a four week practicum course (PRCT 365) as part of the AIM Diploma Program. 50% of the students final mark in PRCT 365 will come from the employer and 50% will come from the AIM Practicum Coordinator.

Practicum offers the opportunity to integrate and apply theory and skills, and demonstrate administrative competencies in a supervised business setting.  The practicum experience takes place immediately after the end of the fourth semester.

The practicum experience is a partnership between SAIT, the AIM Program, the Practicum Student, and the Practicum Employer. The Practicum Employer plays a key role in the training and learning process of the Practicum Student.  It is a guiding role that bridges the gap between theory and practice and provides mentorship to the student.  Each Practicum Student will be assigned to a Practicum Employer once the selection procedures have been completed.
