Q. Will Practicums be virtual, in-office or a hybrid?

A. Depending on federal and provincial regulations and location, practicums may be in-office, virtual or hybrid.

Q. Is there a cost to the student for Practicum?

A. Yes, there is tuition associated with practicum.

PRCT 365 is a course with assessments and you will be receiving a final grade. 50% of your final mark will come from your employer and 50% of your final mark will come from the Practicum Coordinator.

Since PRCT 365 is 1.5 credits the tuition is about 1/2 of a 3 credit course: 

Q. Can I set up my own Practicum?

A. Yes, provided that it is not with a current SAIT practicum employer or family member. Also, it must meet all the requirements of practicum and must be approved by the Practicum Coordinator. For a Student Found Practicum to be approved requires a verifiable confirmation from the Employer that the duties you will be performing will be administrative in nature and will utilize the skills you have learned in the AIM program.

Q. How many Practicum Positions can I apply for?

A. SAIT Found students are allowed to choose 4 positions in Round 1.

Q. Can I do my Practicum in another city/province/country?

A. Yes, as long as it meets all practicum requirements and is approved by the Practicum Coordinator.

Q. How flexible can my Practicum hours be?

A. You are required to keep the same weekly hours as is the policy of all employees at your employer practicum site during your 4-weeks.

Q. Will I have to do an interview and what will be expected of me during the interview?

A. Yes, SAIT Found studets will have do an interview. Treat these interviews the same as any other job interview. You are being interviewed to see if you are a fit for that company. Dress appropriately, don't be late, come prepared.

Q. Will I be asked for a criminal record check?

A. You may have to depending on which sector your practicum is in and to whom you are applying to. For example: AHS, CBE and all not-for-profit organizations will require a police information check.
